The end of the year is drawing in, and if you haven’t done your holiday shopping yet – it’s crunch time!
We’re all shopping online more than ever, and that goes hand-in-hand with scams. It’s important to be aware of what’s out there, and to stay vigilant to protect yourself online.
Keep these pointers in mind as you search through sales to get that perfect last-minute gift!
- Look out for imposter websites, search a company or product you’re interested in instead of clicking on social media ads
- Avoid third party sites – book directly with hotels and airlines
- If you’re waiting on a delivery and get an email or text asking to update your details, go directly to your courier site to check if this is a legitimate request
- Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and Boxing Day sales are all easy targets for scams, keep a healthy scepticism about those bargains
- As stock levels drop, we might be drawn to limited offers, or reselling of items on online marketplaces, but this is a key area for fake product listings
Keep an eye out for online shopping scams this festive season, and from all the team at Quo Group, we hope you have a safe and happy holidays!
